Monday, July 31, 2023

Seventeen more individuals affiliated with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have surrendered following a successful joint operation known as “Operation Shujaa.” The operation targeted a terrorist camp located in Ndalia, situated in the Erengeti town of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo). Maj. Bilal Katamba, the spokesperson for the operation and also the representative of the Mountains Division, headquartered in Muhoti within Fort-Portal City, confirmed this development.

Out of the 17 ADF members who surrendered, fifteen are women, currently under the custody of the joint security forces. According to Maj. Katamba, some of these former ADF members voluntarily surrendered to a FARDC detachment in Ndimo. This decision came after the DR Congo and UPDF joint forces relentlessly engaged the subversive operators, resulting in some of them being neutralized.

Maj. Katamba emphasized that their detachments remained open for any ADF member willing to lay down their arms and surrender. Additionally, the joint forces are actively conducting search and rescue operations in the jungles, aiming to locate and save any remnants who might have become trapped during the crossfire.

The spokesperson urged parents and relatives who have children involved with the ADF to implore them to surrender for their own personal development, as well as for the greater benefit of Uganda.
