Kitgum District – A UPDF soldier, identified as Henry Odwani, shot and killed his wife, Grace Imalingat, at Kurukuba Dettach, Madiope Sub-county, in Kitgum district. The unfortunate incident was reported by Col Deo Akiiki, who also revealed that the soldier subsequently turned the firearm on himself, ending his life.

The motive behind this shocking act remains under investigation, as the authorities work to understand the circumstances that led to this devastating event. Col Akiiki has condemned the violence and urged all soldiers to seek help from the force’s psycho-social support officers, who are presently available across all Units.

Additionally, Col Akiiki emphasized the importance of resolving domestic misunderstandings without resorting to the use of weapons. He suggested utilizing formations and political commissars as alternative avenues for conflict resolution within the military community.
