Two Killed in Njeru Fatal Collision

The fatal accident took place in the early hours of August 4th, 2023, at approximately 05:20 AM. The devastating collision occurred at Kitigoma village, located along the Jinja-Kampala highway in Buikwe District, Uganda.

The accident involved two motor vehicles, namely the Fuso Fighter with registration number UBB 716F and the M/Benz Fuel Tank vehicle with registration numbers UAY 077A/UAY 928A.

According to initial investigations, the Fuso Fighter, driven by an as-yet-unidentified individual, was traveling from Jinja towards Kampala. Tragically, the vehicle veered into the opposite lane of oncoming traffic from Kampala, leading to a catastrophic collision with the M/Benz Fuel Tank vehicle that was heading in the direction of Jinja.

The consequences of the accident were severe, resulting in the loss of life for both the driver and the turnman of the Fuso Fighter. Their bodies are currently being extricated from the wreckage of the truck. Meanwhile, the driver and turnman of the M/Benz Fuel Tank vehicle sustained critical injuries and were promptly rushed to Jinja Hospital for urgent medical attention.

At present, both motor vehicles remain at the accident scene, awaiting towing. The authorities are actively conducting inquiries to determine the precise circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
