The collision occurred between the said motor vehicle and an unidentified motorcycle.

The unfortunate incident took place yesterday, on the 5th of August 2023, at approximately 18:00hrs. The location of the accident was Nateete trading centre in Nyakinama Sub County, along the Kisoro Bunagana road. The primary cause of the accident is attributed to the motor vehicle’s excessive speed at the time of the incident.

Nsabiyinva Stephen, the DHO of Kisoro district, was operating the motor vehicle with registration number UG7056M and as a result of the collision, an individual who was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle sustained injuries. However, the specific details of the injured motorcycle passenger have not been established yet.

According to reports, the motor vehicle with registration number UG7056M, a Toyota Hilux in white color, was traveling from the Bunagana direction, headed towards Kisoro town. While approaching Nateete trading center in Nyakinama sub county, the vehicle attempted to overtake another unidentified motor vehicle at a high speed. This maneuver led to a collision with the unknown motorcycle, resulting in an injury to the motorcycle passenger’s leg.

After the collision, the motor vehicle did not stop and continued at high speed. Unfortunately, it failed to negotiate a corner near Muhabura Shine Secondary School, causing it to overturn into a trench, further causing injuries to the occupants.

Following the incident, Police Constable Mugisa Nicholas visited the scene along with a team of police officers. They conducted an examination of the site and created a sketch and map to document the details.

Both the injured victims were promptly taken to Mutolere Hospital for medical attention. Additionally, the motor vehicle involved in the accident has been towed to Kisoro CPS (Central Police Station) pending inspection and further investigation.

Efforts are now underway to locate the motorcycle and its rider, as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
