Four Arrested, Including Military Driver, Set to Face Court for Illegal Possession and Dealing in Forestry Products

Police in the Ssezibwa Region, alongside the Lugazi Central Police Station (CPS), have detained four individuals who are set to appear before a court of law. The charges levelled against them pertain to the alleged unlawful possession and trade of forestry commodities. The quartet, composed of Warrant Officer Ntumwisho Temteo, a 51-year-old military driver residing at Mbuya Army Barracks; Serunja Jordan, aged 23, and a resident of Lugazi Kitenga; Serwada Steven, aged 20, hailing from Kayanja Mukono; and Kyomugisha Robina, aged 38, who resides in Kinyoro zone within Lugazi Municipality, were apprehended on July 31, 2023.

Their arrest occurred while they were in the process of loading timber within the confines of Mabira Forest. The said activity was taking place using a truck bearing the registration number H4DF 334, which is associated with the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). Subsequent to their apprehension, the UPDF truck was impounded and is currently stationed at the Lugazi CPS.
