Kasese FDC Mobilizer Joins NRM Amid Disputes

Monday, August 14, 2023

Kasese District | The Black Examiner – The Forum for Democratic Forces in Kasese district is reeling from the loss of Mr. Deo Sereka Suda, a former dedicated mobilizer for the party, to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Numerous local leaders and FDC members in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council attribute this loss to ongoing internal disputes within the party, which are pushing it perilously close to being overshadowed by the ruling party.

Mr. Nicodemus Baluku Katika, a well-known businessman straddling the Mpondwe-DR Congo border in Kasese district, applauded Mr. Suda’s courageous choice. He expressed his confusion as to why traders should oppose a government that has contributed significantly to their success rather than collaborating with it.

Welcoming Mr. Suda to the NRM, Mr. Katika indicated they would persist in rallying behind President Museveni. He invited the newcomer to participate in the party’s political mobilization strategies for Uganda’s greater good.

Mr. Suda, who has pledged his full support to his new party, appealed to his former opposition associates for understanding. He explained his departure from the FDC by citing that most of his unidentified friends had already joined the NRM. NRM party members interviewed praised his decision, urging him to further mobilize those still skeptical of Uganda’s strong political landscape.

According to Mr. Suda, he found himself at a loss for words when it came to criticizing the NRM regime, which he acknowledged for its consistent efforts in serving the citizens, despite certain challenges.
