Two Opposition Local Government Leaders Sighted in Kyankwanzi

Monday, August 21, 2023

Local Government leaders are this morning convened at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi for the NRM manifesto retreat.

The retreat was kicked off by the minister for Kampala Hajjat Minsa Kabanda representing Milly Babalanda, the Minister for presidency.

Among those convened is Isaac Muwonge, the Deputy Speaker of Wakiso district of the National Unity Platform and Hadijah Namutebi, Deputy Mayor of Nansana Municipality from the Democratic Party.

Last week, Willis Bashaasha, the Director MIU revealed that the retreat is aimed at assessing and evaluating the progress of the manifesto commitments so far delivered by the government.

The five-day retreat taking place between August 20 and 25 will pool political and technical leaders from the different core local governments in the central region, who will converge to facilitate the coordination, planning and reporting on the manifesto commitments in the central region with a view to assess and validate the programs so far implemented.

Meanwhile, at a time where the World Bank has withheld public financing from Uganda, Bashaasha also noted that the retreat will give opportunity for attendants to recommit to their cause as well as alleviate fears for the future.
