Kotido District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces are currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident at Watakau Trading Center in Nakapelimoru Sub County, Kotido District. During this incident, a UPDF soldier shot and killed two individuals while injuring two others.

Colonel David Byaruhanga, the commander of the 405 brigade, has confirmed the occurrence of the shooting and has identified the suspect as Private Peter Lokidi. Private Lokidi is reportedly stationed in Kanungu District and was responsible for the fatal shooting of the two victims.

According to Col. Byaruhanga, Private Lokidi allegedly obtained a rifle from the residence of the OC Nakapelimoru Police Station, where he had been previously detained on charges of assaulting his wife. The victims have been identified as Peter Lojale, the LC 1 of Longerep village, and another individual known simply as Longoli.

Col. Byaruhanga informed our reporter that preliminary information suggests that the soldier, who was on leave from his base in Kanungu District, may have been suffering from a mental health issue. Private Lokidi has been apprehended and detained to aid in the ongoing investigation.
