Accident at Uganda’s Kingfisher Project Development Area Prompts Safety Review

Kikuube District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) announced tha a there was motor vehicle accident that occurred at the Kingfisher Project Development Area (KFDA) on October 6, 2023. The incident resulted in the tragic loss of one sub-contractor’s personnel.


The accident, which unfolded in Kikuube District, has left the industry reeling, prompting a renewed focus on safety measures and the well-being of personnel involved in the project. PAU, as the regulatory body overseeing Uganda’s oil and gas activities, has vowed to ensure that the highest standards are enforced to prevent such incidents in the future.
The victim, an employee of a sub-contractor working within the KFDA, was involved in a motor vehicle accident that took place within the project’s premises. PAU has not released details about the circumstances leading to the accident


Gloria Sebikari, the Manager of Corporate Affairs at PAU, conveyed the Authority’s deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this challenging time. She emphasized that PAU is collaborating closely with all stakeholders involved in the project to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel.

The Kingfisher Project Development Area has been a focal point of Uganda’s burgeoning oil and gas sector, with significant investments and developments aimed at harnessing the nation’s energy resources.
