Kasese District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The army has confirmed a tragic incident that occurred late last night at Katojo Junction on the Bwera-Kinyamaseka-Kasese Road in Kasese District. Preliminary information suggests that a trailer, transporting onions from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the Ugandan border, fell victim to an ambush carried out by an estimated 5 armed rebels affiliated with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
During the ambush, which took place at 1 a.m., the trailer, which had only four occupants, came under heavy fire. Tragically, one male passenger was shot dead. Another male passenger sustained severe injuries and has been urgently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, one female passenger emerged unscathed from the attack, while one male passenger is currently unaccounted for.
In response to this distressing incident, squads from the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) 5th Battalion have been mobilized to track down the attackers and bring them to justice. The army is actively pursuing leads and working to gather more information about the situation.
