Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has announced the successful apprehension of the suspects responsible for the brutal murder of former state prosecutor Joan Kagezi.

The four suspects have been captured eight years after Kagezi, the lead prosecutor in the July 2010 bomb suspects’ trial, was fatally shot in 2015 by unidentified assailants while returning home in Kiwatule, a Kampala suburb. At the time, reports indicated that she had made a brief stop to purchase groceries with her children in a car when ruthless attackers opened fire, instantly claiming her life.

Mr. Museveni disclosed the identities of the apprehended suspects, stating, “The suspects in the killing of Joan Kagezi have, finally, been arrested. They are: Kibuuka John, Masajjage John, Kissekka Dan, and Nasur Abdalla. They were riding on two motorcycles.”

The President acknowledged the significant breakthrough in the case, emphasizing that, until now, Kagezi’s killers had remained at large since her murder in 2015. He commended the Intelligence Security Organization (ISO) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for their diligent efforts, expressing confidence that the suspects would soon face court proceedings.
