Acholi sub-region Members of Parliament are advocating for a policy to bar any Ministry of Education official, regardless of their rank, from actively managing an educational institution while in civil service. They argue that conflicts of interest among officials, who also supervise public schools, have negatively impacted the education system.

Anthony Akol, Chairperson of the Acholi Parliamentary Group and MP for Kilak North, highlighted how some education ministers and commissioners, who own top schools, have neglected public schools in their own areas. The proposal was submitted to the Education Policy Review Commission, with Akol emphasizing that officials are undermining policies meant to support government schools to favor their private ventures.
