Kasese District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The 11th Battalion of the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF) has successfully neutralized two terrorists and apprehended two women connected to the tragic events at Lhubiriha Secondary School.
In June, assailants targeted Lhubiriha Secondary School in Kasese district, resulting in the loss of at least 37 lives, including students.
President Yoweri Museveni, in a statement on Saturday, identified the attackers as members of the Tanzanian Arab group led by Abu wa Kasi. The UPDF accomplished the elimination of two terrorists and the capture of two women at Mayongosi, southeast of Beni Town.
President Museveni emphasized his directive to the UPDF to facilitate communication with the captured women, urging them to share insights with the media regarding their association with the terrorists.
In the Kasese region, security forces, under the President’s guidance, are actively pursuing a group led by a Congolese individual named Kamusu. This group represents the remnants of Njovu’s faction, responsible for the tragic killing of tourists.

President Museveni emphasized the enhancement of detection and search techniques, noting the apparent shift of terrorists away from the risky forests of Congo towards infiltrating back into Uganda in smaller groups. He asserted that the current mission is to identify and eliminate these smaller groups, whether within Uganda or in close proximity to Congo towns.
