A 110-year-old man aboding at Kahunga 1 Cell Kahunga Parish Ntungamo district has stabbed his 109-year-old wife to death after denying him conjugal rights, Police have said.

Dominic Babiiha is accused of fatally stabbing his wife Constansio Bakasisa at their home on Friday, December 15, 2023.

The Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira, confirmed the incident saying, “The suspect and the deceased were a married couple staying in the same house but sleeping in separate rooms and the act of violence was as a result of denial of conjugal rights.”

Kasasira added that inquiries into the matter are still ongoing, condemning all acts of violence and encouraging members of the public to always look to nonviolent means to resolve misunderstandings or seek help from relevant authorities.

Found unconscious at the crime scene with a bottle of an Agro chemical beside him, Police have since rushed the suspect (Babiiha) to Itojo Hospital for treatment, taking the lifeless body of the deceased (Bakasisa) for a postmortem.

Prior to the stabbing, it is alleged that on Thursday, December 14, 2023, after supper the suspect requested the deceased to join him in his bedroom, but the latter declined his request, saying she was feeling weak and had a cough.

The two went to their separate rooms, the deceased going with two of their great-grandchildren.

However, on the morning of Friday, the suspect was allegedly seen armed with a bent-like panga entering his wife’s room, and stabbing her multiple times.
