At least four people have died while twenty others critically injured in a road crash along Katakwi- Soroti Road.
The accident involving a fuso truck registration number UBP 936M and a Bodaboda rider on motorcycle Reg. UEJ 562P happened this evening in Kide village-Getom Sub County in Katakwi District.
John Robert Tukei the acting Police Spokesperson has confirmed the accident but said the information is still scanty.
RDC Katakwi district Rt Maj Godfrey Katamba, has attributed the cause of accident to reckless driving by the driver of the Fuso truck.
He has only identified one of the deceased as Jenifer Amuge, 37, of Getom village-Getom sub county in Katakwi District and her husband who has not been identified.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the truck experienced mechanical issues with the tyre rod end and was dangerously overloaded with both luggage and passengers.
Katamba said the bodies of the deceased have been taken to Katakwi General Hospital for postmortem and those critically injured are also being treated at the same facility.
Meanwhile, Geoffrey Omolo during an interview with Examiner at the scene, appealed to the community to be careful while using main roads.
