Family Attempts to Bury Daughter at Neighbor’s Home After Fatal Accident

Shock engulfed Kyedikyo B village in Katikara Sub County, Kakumiro district after one resident attempted to bury the body of his late daughter at another man’s home.

Isak Tumuhairwe a resident of Kyedikyo B village over the weekednd carried the remains of his daughter who had died following an accident and attempted to bury the remains at Christopher Mugisha’s home.

Sources told Examiner that Tumuhairwe’s daughter, Oliver Atuhurire, was knocked down by Mugisha’s 16-year-old son on Friday evening while he was riding a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with Reg No: UFV 268B in Kyedikyo.

Atuhurire was rushed to Albertine Hospital in Kisiita town council, where she was pronounced dead. Allegedly, both parties later agreed that Mugisha would meet all the burial expenses and the deceased be buried on Sunday, but he failed to do so, prompting the deceased’s family to attempt to bury the body in Mugisha’s compound.

Robert Sasiire, Chairperson LCI for Kyedikyo B village condemned the incident, emphasizing that even the deceased have rights.

Everisto Kabagambe, Chairperson LCIII for Katikara Sub County, called on both parties to maintain peace and live harmoniously in the village. He advised people to seek advice from leaders when necessary rather than violating laws.

Subsequently, police intervened and a meeting was held to reconcile both parties. The body was finally laid to rest at the parents’ home.
