MTN Uganda has hit a monumental stride, boasting 20 million active customers and solidifying its stature as the leading telecom provider in Uganda.

In a momentous staff gathering graced by representatives from MTN Group and MTN Uganda’s leadership, Teopister Nakyanzi from Busuula Town, Wobulenzi, Luweero District, was hailed as the 20 millionth customer of MTN Uganda.

Accompanied by her son Joshua, Nakyanzi beamed with joy as she expressed her gratitude for the honor. “I am thrilled to be a part of this historic occasion and deeply thankful to MTN Uganda for this recognition,” she shared.

Amidst the jubilation, Joshua, drawing attention to the synchronicity between his age and the milestone, quipped, “Perhaps it’ll be me you’ll be celebrating when you hit 30 million customers.”

Recognizing the magnitude of this achievement, Yolanda Cuba, MTN Group’s Vice President for Southern & Eastern Africa, remarked, “MTN Uganda’s attainment of 20 million customers is tantamount to the entire population of a sister market. This milestone speaks volumes. We extend our congratulations to Teopister and urge her to inspire others to join our unstoppable network.”

In response, Sylvia Mulinge, CEO of MTN Uganda, lauded the collective effort of the team for pursuing what seemed like an insurmountable goal. “This milestone underscores our dedication to connecting every corner of Uganda. Together, we’ve demonstrated that no aspiration is too lofty when we unite for a common cause,” she affirmed.

As a token of appreciation, Teopister Nakyanzi received a brand-new Tecno Camon 30 smartphone, assorted groceries, branded merchandise, and a cash token via MoMo.

Additionally, the event commemorated another feat: MTN MoMo surpassing 300,000 merchants utilizing the service to facilitate payments for goods and services.
