Uganda took an early lead with Shadia Nabirye scoring in the 4th minute. Despite dominating the first half and creating numerous scoring opportunities, Uganda couldn’t extend their lead.
South Africa almost leveled the score in the 25th minute when Rithabile Molefe’s effort was brilliantly saved by Uganda’s goalkeeper, Huda Ayikoru. However, South Africa was awarded a penalty in the 36th minute, which Molefe successfully converted, bringing the score to 1-1.

Ayub Khalifa, the Head Coach of Team Uganda, expressed optimism about their future matches. “It’s unfortunate that we didn’t win this game, but we shall try to win our upcoming games,” said Khalifa, who also coaches Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.
Looking ahead, Kawempe Muslim is set to face Togo on Wednesday at 9:00 AM, while South Africa will play against Gambia at the same time. Uganda’s final group fixture against Gambia is scheduled for 11:00 AM tomorrow, with a semi-final spot at stake.
