The Kanungu district police have initiated a manhunt for the suspected killers of Katushabe John Bosco, a 37-year-old security guard. The deceased, identified as a Mukiga by tribe, worked at UTL Mass Boosters and resided in Rugando Cell, Rutojo Parish, Rutenga Sub-County, Kanungu District.

According to the police statement, the disappearance of John Bosco was reported by Tingiromwe Moses, a 54-year-old farmer from the same village, on May 11, 2024. Following the report, a case file of disappearance was opened at Rutenga Police Post, and community members conducted extensive searches. Unfortunately, the search yielded no results until May 22, 2024, when human remains were discovered in Mafuga Forest. The remains were found alongside a hand hoe and a metallic ladder.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, informed reporters that the police responded promptly upon notification. The crime scene was examined, revealing that the body had been buried in a shallow grave, suggesting that Katushabe John Bosco was murdered during the night of May 6, 2024. Maate mentioned that the scene was documented meticulously, statements were recorded from relevant individuals, and samples were collected for forensic analysis.

The remains of the deceased have been transported to Kanungu Health Centre IV mortuary for a postmortem examination. Maate urged the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for this heinous crime, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
