She claims he attempted to strangle her, causing various injuries. Police confirmed the investigation and will summon Chameleone for a statement. Sencere faces online backlash but insists she has proof of the assault. Chameleone’s estranged wife supports Sencere’s claims. Ugandan authorities have initiated an investigation into assault allegations against popular musician Jose Chameleone. The accusations come from Cynthia Nagawa, a rising female artist known professionally as Sencere Music.
Sencere alleges that Chameleone attacked her in the early hours of Saturday, June 9, at Casablanca Bar in Kololo, attempting to strangle her and causing injuries to her face, arms, and abdomen. She reported the incident to Kira Road Police Station on Sunday morning. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed on Monday evening that an investigation is ongoing and that Chameleone will soon be required to provide a statement.
According to Owoyesigire, Sencere has already given her statement to the police and received medical documentation confirming her injuries. “We are now investigating all these allegations and will summon him (Chameleone) to make a statement,” Owoyesigire stated.
Sencere spoke to Pulse Uganda, expressing frustration over online backlash and media misrepresentation since she publicized her allegations. “I have seen a lot of bloggers posting uncoordinated reports, digging up posts from as far back as the Covid lockdown, which was fake news,” she said. “People are accusing me of chasing clout and trying to make a name off of him (Chameleone), but I do have proof.”
Chameleone’s estranged wife, Daniella Atim, who is currently based in the US, has voiced her support for Sencere, adding weight to the allegations against the musician.
