Following earlier directives from the President to waive EFRIS penalties, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) swiftly complied, benefiting over 2000 traders. The upcoming meeting is expected to delve into further adjustments regarding textile taxes and the Value Added Tax (VAT) threshold.
This development comes amidst recent protests by business owners, citing what they perceive as unjust taxation and cumbersome EFRIS requirements. Mr. Isa Sekito, spokesperson for the Kampala City Traders Association (Kacita), expressed optimism about the upcoming discussions, emphasizing the importance of resolving issues that hinder business operations.
