KAMPALA, (Examiner) – Irene Ntale has no regrets about leaving Swangz Avenue, proudly noting that she has achieved more independently than she did under the record label.

In a recent interview with Saymore Official, Ntale expressed her satisfaction with her current pace of work and creative freedom. She addressed comments about her brand’s visibility, emphasizing that popularity doesn’t always equate to personal success.

“Nothing frustrates you like your music being everywhere yet you have no money in your pocket… People think you are successful, but it’s just the music that’s everywhere,” Ntale shared. She added that she now sees the financial benefits of her efforts, unlike before.

Ntale, who joined Swangz Avenue in 2013 and left in 2017, reflected on her departure. “I was ready to leave and I left,” she said. “No one can ever leave a good place; there’s always a reason one leaves.” She affirmed that she has never regretted leaving the record label and has no intention of joining another. “I don’t want a record label, no,” she stated. “Many people have approached me, but no. I no longer want to. God helped me build a small team that I work well with… I’m happy where I am.”

Before her tenure at Swangz Avenue, owned by Benon Mugumbya and Julius Kyazze, Ntale was performing at The Emin Pasha Hotel and SPA. She was scouted by Swangz Avenue in late 2012 and officially joined the label in January 2013. Her departure in 2017 was unceremonious, but she has since carved out a successful independent career.
