The African Confederation for Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) has honored Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) as a leading SACCO in Uganda and one of Africa’s fastest-growing SACCOs. This recognition was announced by ACCOSCA’s Executive Director, Mr. George Ombado, during a strategic assessment visit to WSACCO’s headquarters in Kiwatule.
ACCOSCA’s delegation, led by Mr. Ombado, is currently in Uganda to assess strategic plans and extend solidarity to the Uganda Cooperative Savings and Credit Union (UCSCU) in advancing the SACCO industry.
“We believe that partnerships with successful SACCOs like Wazalendo will foster more dynamic SACCO models across Africa, enhancing economic empowerment through cooperative financial systems,” commented Mr. Ombado.
Wazalendo SACCO attributes its rapid growth to effective leadership, professionalism, member-centric service delivery, and active community engagement. Col Joseph Freddy Onata, CEO of Wazalendo SACCO, expressed gratitude to ACCOSCA and UCSCU for ongoing support in capacity building and advocacy efforts.
“We are honored to host ACCOSCA’s strategic assessment visit, where we showcased our achievements. This visit underscores ACCOSCA’s commitment to supporting our continuous improvement and member service enhancements,” noted Col Onata.
The event was attended by WSACCO’s management and staff, marking a significant milestone in the SACCO’s journey toward sustainable development and member prosperity.
