The spokesperson for the Rwenzori East Region Police, ASP Nelson Tumushiime, has issued a stern warning to illegal money lenders operating in Kasese District, threatening to arrest them.
According to him, these unlicensed money lenders charge exorbitant interest rates and subject their clients to undue pressure, ultimately seeking to seize their property.
ASP Tumushiime further advised the community to avoid taking out multiple loans, which often leads to insurmountable debt. Meanwhile, Lt. Maate Magwara, the Deputy RDC of Bukonzo County in Kasese, also urged money lenders to refrain from charging high interest rates.
