In response to the assault, Deo Atuhaire Omuhatizi, the Chairperson of Buhweju District, issued a statement condemning the violent act. Omuhatizi underscored the swift intervention of law enforcement personnel, who promptly evacuated Hon. Mwijukye from the scene to ensure his safety.

As Hon. Mwijukye receives medical attention, the identity of the hospital where he is being treated remains undisclosed, adding an air of uncertainty to his condition and whereabouts.

Despite the alarming turn of events, Omuhatizi urged both the constituents and the wider public to remain calm and composed as authorities launch investigations to apprehend those responsible for the assault. The plea for restraint emphasizes the importance of maintaining peace and order amidst heightened tensions within the community.
