A tragic incident has unfolded within the ranks of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), as a soldier from the Mountain Division in Fort Portal has allegedly shot and killed two of his colleagues, while injuring another. The UPDF is currently engaged in a manhunt to locate the soldier responsible for this disturbing act.
Providing details on the incident, Col. Deo Akiiki, the Deputy Defense Spokesperson, revealed that Corporal Avugo Lomuro, a member of the Mountain Division Signal Department attached to the Air Force Evacuation Component, carried out the fatal shooting late last night. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed, as the UPDF adheres to its policy of informing the families first.
Col. Akiiki expressed strong condemnation for the actions of the soldier who is currently at large, emphasizing that the UPDF possesses a well-established framework for addressing internal grievances. It is expected that the soldier should have followed this protocol instead of resorting to violence. As more developments occur, Kasese Guide radio will provide ongoing updates. May the souls of the deceased find eternal peace.
