Centenary Bank, Airtel Uganda Launch 5G Network for Banking Services

Kampala, Uganda | The Black Examiner – Centenary Bank has expressed its admiration for Airtel Uganda’s introduction of the advanced 5G network, foreseeing a substantial enhancement in service provision.

Airtel Uganda proudly unveiled the operational 5G network across the country, marking a pioneering moment in Ugandan telecommunications. Notably, 11 key towers have successfully undergone comprehensive trials of the 5G technology. These towers, strategically situated, include Industrial Area, Bulange Mengo, Garden City Area, Upper Kololo, Clement Hill, Lower Airstrip Kololo, Wampewo Avenue, and the latest addition, Mapeera House within the vibrant confines of Kampala City.

The ceremonial launch of the 5G network at Mapeera House on Friday was attended by industry leaders and stakeholders. Fabian Kasi, the Managing Director of Centenary Bank, shared his insights on this groundbreaking development. He affirmed that over the past four decades, the network had persistently posed as a major challenge to their service operations. However, with the arrival of the advanced 5G network, Centenary Bank is now poised for a remarkable improvement in its operational efficiency. This aligns seamlessly with their ambitious goal of evolving into a smart bank by the culmination of 2023.

Kasi expounded on the pivotal partnership between Centenary Bank and Airtel Uganda. The alliance couldn’t have come at a more opportune time, as Centenary Bank is deeply committed to a countrywide drive of extending digital financial services. This initiative seeks to bridge the geographical gap between customers and banking services, making them more accessible and convenient.

Meanwhile, Manoj Murali, the Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, commended Centenary Bank’s embrace of cutting-edge technology, particularly the Airtel 5G network. Murali highlighted how this technological leap would significantly ease the banking experiences of customers, both within Uganda and across international borders. The seamless integration of Airtel’s 5G network is set to revolutionize the landscape of financial services in Uganda, enabling enhanced connectivity, efficiency, and accessibility.
