Hospital Escapee Found Dead in Kabale

Kabale District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Police in Kabale District responded to a sudden death incident involving an unidentified adult male. The discovery was made when the body was found at Makanga Cell, Central Ward, on 15/10/2023.

Reportedly, on the same date at approximately 07:49 AM, Dr. Gilbert Arinaitwe Mateeka, the District Health Officer (DHO) of Kabale district, reported the sudden death case at Kabale Police Station. The incident occurred at Makanga Cell, Central Ward, Central Division, Kabale Municipality.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, informed that the homicide team from Kabale Police Station, led by District CID Officer D/SP Mukama, promptly visited the scene. They documented the incident, retrieved the body, and transported it to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Upon reaching the hospital mortuary, the officers encountered the deceased’s relatives. Tumukunde Michael, the brother-in-law, and others identified the deceased as Tibesigwa Habert, a 45-year-old resident of Kirwa village, Bushuro Parish, Kitumba Sub County, Kabale District.

According to the relatives, Tibesigwa had been a patient at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital and was admitted since 13/10/2023. On the morning of 15/10/2023, around 03:30 AM, while in the ward, he reportedly removed a drip tube from the canula on his hand and escaped from his wife, Kiconco Janis, and others, stating that he was heading home.
