Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Ministry of Health is urging the World Health Organization to establish a standardized framework for funding capacity-building initiatives across African countries. Several countries, Uganda among them, have faced challenges accessing funding from the World Health Organization due to the rigorous criteria in place. This situation has placed added pressure on other African countries to step in during emergency situations.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister of Health, addressed this issue during the second phase of the Joint External Evaluation Exercise held in Kampala. The Joint External Evaluation is a voluntary assessment of capacity that occurs every 4-5 years and employs a peer-to-peer evaluation approach. This process aids countries in identifying critical deficiencies within their healthcare systems and prioritizes actions for enhancing preparedness and response capabilities.
