Kyotera District | The Black Examiner – President Yoweri Museveni inaugurated the St. Cosma Medical Clinic Kamaggwa in Kyotera district. This medical facility, established by His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala, aims to offer essential health services to the local community.
As per the Ministry of Health, the clinic meets level three standards and was named in honor of Cardinal Wamala’s parents, the late Cosma Kyamera and Theresa Namayanja, the latter of whom served as a traditional birth attendant.
President Museveni, who also contributed Shs 125 million for the clinic’s equipment, was represented at the event by Vice President Jessica Alipo.
Museveni praised Cardinal Wamala’s dedicated efforts in uplifting Ugandans and commended the support of individuals like Papal Knight Emmanuel Katongole and the friends of Bishops for positively impacting the lives of Christians through various aspects, including healthcare.
Museveni emphasized the importance of prioritizing health within the National Resistance Movement (NRM), underscoring that a healthy population is an asset to the nation’s growth and development. He also highlighted the need for vigilance against Non-Communicable Diseases, which often result from poor dietary habits and a lack of physical activity.
Furthermore, Museveni reiterated his call for household-level wealth creation, which aligns with government initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty.
Earlier in the day, Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba, the Bishop of Masaka Diocese, offered blessings to the St. Cosma Medical Clinic Kamaggwa. He credited Cardinal Wamala’s family for their support to both the Church and the community.
The medical facility is equipped to provide care to expectant mothers, administer immunizations, and offer basic medical treatments.
