NDA and Buganda Kingdom Partner to Safeguard Public Health

Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The National Drug Authority (NDA) and the Buganda Kingdom have formed a special partnership to safeguard public health. In this collaboration, His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II has taken on the role of championing safe drug usage within the Buganda Kingdom and across Uganda. Kabaka’s influential voice will play a pivotal role in combatting the growing issue of drug and substance abuse, which hampers the productivity of many Ugandans and poses a significant public health concern.

NDA has committed to collaborating with the Kingdom to enhance the quality of herbal medicines in Buganda. This will involve providing training for herbalists, supporting those engaged in herbal medicine to adhere to current good manufacturing practices, and assisting herbal drug manufacturers and dealers in getting their approved products on the market. These efforts will enhance the knowledge and quality of herbal products.

The partnership between NDA and the Buganda Kingdom will focus on raising awareness about safe drug usage through mass sensitization campaigns led by the Kingdom. NDA will also offer extensive technical support and information to address drug and substance abuse among youth and teenagers, combat drug hawking, and prevent drug misuse. This support includes providing essential information and educational materials for campaigns against illicit drug use and drug hawking.
