Responding to the outcry from traders at Kashenshero Weekly Market in Kashenshero Town Council, Mitooma District, regarding the absence of toilet facilities for the past six months, the district leadership took action yesterday by inaugurating a waterborne toilet. This initiative is made possible through funding provided by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).
Mayor Edigar Arinda Rwambika of Kashenshero Town Council highlighted that the existing toilet had collapsed six months ago, necessitating an urgent appeal to higher authorities for intervention.
Andrew Karamuzi, the NWSC Area Manager, specified that the project’s budget amounts to 22 million Ugandan Shillings, with an anticipated completion timeframe of one month.
During the launch event, Benon Karyeija, the District Administrator of Mitooma, emphasized that the construction of this toilet facility will significantly enhance sanitation for the market vendors.
