Scabies Hits Kapchorwa Schools, Sparking Concern

Kapchorwa District | The Black Examiner – Scabies outbreak in schools have left the district leadership worried. This comes after a number students were reported to have been affected by the disease.

The RDC Kapchorwa Mr Lotem T Linus has caution managers of both government and private schools to put the health of learners a priority and following all the education guidelines especially for boarding.

Mr Lotem made the remarks while addressing Head teachers and Directors of all schools within the two administrative units ( District and Municipality) at Kokhall concerning the outbreak.

According to the Health Surveillance investigation team, students/pupils in boarding reported to school this term with the disease.

The contiguous skin disease had to spread due, poor hygiene, bathing of necessary kids, using one item and congested dormitories in some boarding schools.

In attendance were the CAO, Town Clerk, DHO, DEO, Principle Education Officer Municipal, Focal Point person Disease Surveillance, and Health Inspectors from both units.
