Bushenyi: Bus operations suspended due to disagreement

Security forces and officials of Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality, Bushenyi district have suspended the operation of buses that have been parked in Ishaka town since 29/06/2023
The move comes after the Bushenyi Taxi Operators’ Co-operatives Union took their complaint to the RDC asking him to suspend bus operations as they are disrupting the operations of taxi drivers.
The owners of the buses include; Tausi, Global and Swift Safaries are accused of killing taxi businesses

On Tuesday, the situation was tense after taxi drivers suspended their operations and bus drivers were also banned from operating in Ishaka town in protest against the security forces and municipal officials holding a meeting with them at the Leisure Park in Ishaka town.

The head of the taxi association, Arthur Mucunguzi, ordered the bus companies that do not have parks and stations including Ishaka to stop them from reducing their fare shares which has resulted in losses.
“We have been working with Tausi buses but we only allow 4 buses and they have increased to 27 which has disrupted our work,” Mucunguzi said.

"I am grateful to those who were there, Global has already worked on the Kampala- Mbarara road and started working on the Kampala-Mitooma road.

The NRM chairman for Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, Muhammad Lukwago has threatened to lead the demonstration if the leaders of the municipality if they do not resolve their issues.
