19-Year-Old Woman Killed in Kakumiro, Police Hunt Assailants

Kakumiro, Uganda | The Black Examiner – Police in Kakumiro district are actively investigating the murder of a 19-year-old woman, Joan Teddy Nabwaya, who was attacked by unidentified individuals. Nabwaya was employed at New Life Bar and Lodge and resided in Kiriisa village, Kikada parish, within Kasambya sub county.

According to preliminary reports from Julius Allan Hakiza, the police spokesperson for the Albertine region, the incident occurred around 3 am on Thursday morning. Nabwaya was in the company of a 21-year-old man named Alex Muhumuza within the lodge when two armed assailants armed with pangas (machetes) and torches forcibly entered the room they were occupying.

Nabwaya was killed in the attack, while Muhumuza sustained multiple injuries, including cuts to his arm. He is currently receiving medical treatment at Kakumiro Health Center IV.

Investigations have revealed that the deceased had recently separated from her husband the previous Sunday. There are allegations that her estranged husband had made threats against her.

The police are actively searching for the assailants involved in the attack, which includes efforts to locate the deceased’s former husband. Their assistance is vital to aid the ongoing investigation.
