44-Year-Old Woman Drowns in Kyambura River

Rubirizi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Rubirizi District Police are currently investigating the tragic drowning of a 44-year-old woman, identified as Jackline Kyomuzobe, a resident of Butoha 1 village, Butoha parish, Magambo sub-county, Rubirizi district.

According to Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, the incident occurred at Kaberengye B village, Kikumbo parish, Kirugu sub-county, Rubirizi district, on September 13, 2023.

It is reported that on that day, the deceased had been harvesting coffee at her home when she received a phone call from Valencia, a resident of the Omuruhita trading center. Valencia informed her that coffee was being bought at 1000= at the center and encouraged her to bring some for sale.


The deceased informed her daughter-in-law about her plans and even promised to bring back fish for a meal. However, she never returned home, causing concern among her family members who reported her disappearance to Nyakasharu police station.

The search for the deceased began, and one of her shoes was discovered in a bar owned by Valencia. The shoe was recovered and taken to Nyakasharu police station.

Tragically, the lifeless body of the deceased was later found along the banks of Kyambura River near Zuba dam around 10:00 pm. The discovery was reported to Kirugu police station.
