55-Year Old Man Killed Over 2Million Compensation in Kisoro

Police in Kisoro have arrested six people in connection to the murder of a 55 year old man, Richard Ndungutse, who had just received two million shillings as government compensation.

Ndungutse went missing from his home on 23/8/2023. He was a resident of Buzeyi village Nyarusinza, sub-county, Kisoro District.

ASP Elly Mate the Kigezi regional police spokesperson said information was received at Kisoro police station from an informant that the said deceased went missing on 23/8/2023 in evening hours from his home in the same village.

After two days, Ndungutse’s wife Jennifer Ntawiha 50, allegedly reported to the area Local Council One Chairman. Almost a week later, Ndungutse’s body was found in the garden, stealthily ferried to his home so that it’s buried. When an informant saw the rush in having Ndungutse’s body buried, he alerted police which sealed off the home and also took the body for a postmortem.

The scene of crime was visited by Kisoro police homicide detectives. It was documented and statements from relevant witnesses were obtained.

“The body was found with deep cut wounds on the neck and head. Seven suspects including the deceased’s wife Jennifer Ntahiwa have been arrested,” ASP Mate said.

Other suspects include Dusiimwe Geoffrey 19, the deceased’s son, Arinaitwe Gad 27, deceased’s son, Ndeeba John 64, deceased’s brother, Gitende James 60, deceased’s brother, Sebasigwe Joseph 64, area Chairman and Niyibigira Damasen 25, deceased’s nephew.

“Motive of the murdered: It was established that of recent the deceased received some road compensation money from government in the sum of Shs2.000.000 whose sharing in their home became a problem hence domestic violence that is suspected to have been the origin of the murder,” ASP Mate said.
