Luwero District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Police in Wobulenzi Town Council, Luwero district, are actively investigating the death of a 75-year-old man who perished in a house fire.

The victim, identified as Ssali Dastan, a 75-year-old Muganda casual worker residing in Gembe village, Katikamu subcounty, Luwero district, tragically lost his life on Thursday, October 4, 2023, at around 11 pm. The incident occurred in Wampamba village, Wobulenzi Town Council, Luwero district.

Preliminary information suggests that on the aforementioned date and location, neighbors witnessed a fire engulfing Mr. Dastan’s house/room. Upon inspection, they found the man’s body burnt beyond recognition and promptly informed the mayor of Wobulenzi Town Council.

ASP Twine Amazima Sam, the PRO for the Savannah Region, stated that the police promptly responded to the mayor’s report. They visited the scene, where a team of scene of crime officers and detectives documented the incident. A sketch plan was drawn, and a case of suspected murder was registered. Statements from relevant witnesses were recorded, and the victim’s body was transported to Kasana Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
