Airtel Uganda partners with Badili Africa to boost smartphone Use

Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Airtel Uganda has joined forces with Badili Africa, a leading re-commerce start-up specializing in refurbished smartphones, to boost smartphone adoption and expand internet access in Uganda. This strategic partnership aims to provide affordable smartphones, enabling more people to stay connected and engage in the digital world. Airtel Uganda’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Amit Kapur, emphasized the commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 9, increasing access to information and ICTs.

Customers can trade in their old phones with Airtel Uganda, top up, and acquire a Badili-offered smartphone, receiving a 100% bonus on weekly and monthly data bundle purchases. This initiative not only facilitates affordable smartphone access but also promotes responsible disposal of old devices.

Rishabh Lawania, CEO and Founder at Badili Africa, expressed excitement about the partnership, aiming to make technology accessible while promoting sustainability through device reuse.

Anticipated to significantly impact Uganda’s smartphone market, this partnership addresses the challenge of slow smartphone adoption due to initial costs and limited financing options. Airtel Uganda continues its commitment to making reliable smartphones accessible through collaborations with major device dealers like Watu, EasyBuy, dlight, and Mkopa.
