Mpigi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Residents of Kanyale Cell in Mityana District and Kayabwe Ward A in Mpigi District are grappling with shock following the loss of four lives in a single night. The horrifying incident in Kanyale Cell unfolded around 11 pm on Monday when unidentified assailants, armed with machetes, attacked and fatally stabbed two youths, 30-year-old Gerald Kasule and 25-year-old Julius Luyimbazi, as they walked home. The assailants then dumped the bodies in a nearby coffee plantation.

Siraj Gayira, the chairperson of Kanyale Cell, described the incident as shocking, suggesting a possible motive linked to the recent killing of a chicken thief by a mob in the area. He expressed concern about the escalating crime rate, citing a previous incident where a dismembered body was discovered in the same village.

Wamala Regional Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala assured the public that the police are actively pursuing the perpetrators, emphasizing that security measures in the area will be reinforced.

In a separate incident in Kayabwe Ward A, assailants targeted Kindly Fuel Station, killing 25-year-old security guard Solomon Ogwok. Subsequently, they moved to a nearby car washing bay and murdered another security guard, 27-year-old Ley Musa. Both brutal acts occurred simultaneously, according to Cyril Baguma, the manager of Kindly Fuel Station. Notably, the assailants did not steal anything from the victims.

Police, utilizing two sniffer dogs, initiated a search for the killers, who remained at large at the time of reporting. Karim Majid, the acting Katonga Regional police spokesperson, affirmed collaboration with other security agencies in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the culprits.
