Bid to Install New Bakonzo King Thwarted, Two Held

Kasese District | The Black Examiner – On Sunday evening, local authorities in Kasese apprehended two individuals for reportedly conspiring to install one of them as the Bakonzo ethnic group’s new king. The suspects, Aiga Mumbere (23) from Buhuhira Sub County and Kasumali Bwambale (30) from Nyambuku Parish in Maliba Sub County, Busongora County North, were caught on Royal Hill while attempting their unauthorized plan.

Nelson Tumushiime, the spokesperson for Rwenzori East Police, confirmed the arrests. The detained individuals were found trespassing on the Royal Hill, prompting suspicion of their unauthorized intentions.

Both Mumbere and Bwambale are currently held at Kasese Central Police Station. They will undergo further questioning during ongoing investigations.

SP Tumushiime revealed that the two suspects were allegedly collaborating to crown Mumbere as the new king of the Bakonzo ethnic community.
