Kampala, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | A groundbreaking Coffee Table Book, the first of its kind in Uganda, is set to spotlight the achievements and influence of prominent women in the country. The initiative began in Kenya, led by Carolyne Mandi, the owner of Drum and True Love Magazine, in collaboration with Imalda Mamanga, a Tanzanian businesswoman. Their vision is to foster collaboration among influential women in Africa.
This book, documented by the Pivoting in Heels consortium, a digital non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women, will be officially unveiled on Tuesday, the 17th of next month at Le Chateau Quality Hill Hotel in Kampala. The book is centered around the theme “Reimagining Connections: Navigating Change in a Digital World” and aims to emphasize the strength of women and their capacity to drive positive change for a brighter future.
It features inspiring narratives and profiles of 60 powerful women in Uganda, spanning both corporate and rural settings, highlighting their resilience, ambition, and forward-thinking mindset.
Remmie Male, the Country Director of Pivoting in Heels, underscored the significance of celebrating the outstanding achievements of influential female leaders in various sectors, including business and agriculture. She expressed gratitude for the support of Janet Kataaha Museveni, the First Lady of Uganda, for graciously contributing the foreword to the Coffee Table Book.
The book follows a unique approach where the woman in the statehouse, whether it’s the president or the first lady, is invited to write the foreword. The team has also approached the Vice President, Jesicca Alupo, to write the introduction, and the Nabagereka Foundation for an endorsement.
