Masindi District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | The Masindi district LCV Chairman, Cosmas Byaruhanga, has given a two-week ultimatum to Masindi Municipality Mayor Kyomuhendo Ronald Businge and the Municipal legislator Joab Businge to avail the land title for Kayanja land, which was proposed for the establishment of Bunyoro University.

The district chairman and the mayor have been up in arms for a long time over the allocation of land for the establishment of Bunyoro University Greater Masindi Campus. The Municipal Mayor and MP propose Kayanja, which is within an urban setting, while the district chairman suggests Kihonda since it has its own land title.

Recently, during the commemoration of the belated Independence Day for Masindi district held at Kikingura Primary School Playground, Byaruhanga said they identified Kihonda land for the establishment of the university since it has no wrangles and they have its land title.

Without announcing the next step, Byaruhanga gave the above two leaders two weeks to produce the land title for Kayanja since the land’s minister canceled its land title, which was in the name of an investor, Magalies Distillers Ltd, Uganda.

Byaruhanga also alleges that there is a section of leaders who want to fail the allocation of Kihonda land for the establishment of the public university.

In his response, the Masindi Municipal Mayor, Ronald Kyomuhendo Businge, says he has no time for Byaruhanga, noting that the LCV chairman has no authority to give them an ultimatum for the release of the land title, adding that he is not answerable to Byaruhanga but to the people of the municipality.
