CDO, Parish Chief, Five Others Arrested for Misusing PDM Funds in Kabale

Kabale District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Seven individuals have been arrested for their alleged involvement in irregularities within the Parish Development Model (PDM) program in Kabale district.

The arrested individuals include Gil Andinda, the Community Development Officer of Kyanamira sub-county, Sonia Ahimbisibwe, the Chief of Nyakagyera parish, and Mackline Nyesimire, the Chairperson of Nyakagyera Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization, among others.

Their arrest, which occurred on Saturday, was carried out on the orders of Godfrey Nyakahuma, the Resident District Commissioner of Kabale.

According to Nyakahuma, the individuals from Buhara sub-county were detained following information provided by a concerned whistleblower, indicating that they had substituted two eligible beneficiaries with their relatives.

Additionally, those from Kyanamira sub-county were apprehended after security personnel uncovered that PDM funds had been allocated to civil servants, retired civil servants, the wives of Ugandan army officers, and established hardware dealers.

Nyakahuma further stated that the suspects, who are currently in custody at Kabale police station, will be presented in court this week to face charges, likely including misconduct in office, obstruction of government programs, and causing financial losses to the government.
