Explore Bunyoro to Unlock the Region’s Rich Tourism Potential- Tourism Ministry

Hoima, Uganda | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Tourists and tourism enthusiasts will this week flock Bunyoro regions to be part of the first ever domestic tourism drive dubbed ‘’Explore Bunyoro Region’’.

This domestic tourism promotional drive, an initiative by the Ministry Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, is aimed at stirring awareness and promoting the unseen beauty of Bunyoro Region’s adorable, prized tourism sites and attractions.

The ’Explore Bunyoro Region’ campaign kicks off on September 27 to 30. The campsign is part of the activities to mark the International Tourism Day that will be held at Hoima Booma grounds. The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja will be the chief guest at the celebrations that will be held under the theme ‘’Tourism and Green Investments’’.

The campaign also builds on the achievements of the domestic tourism regional initiatives for Explore Elgon, Explore West, and Explore North, which had an overwhelmingly positive response from Ugandans.

The Explore Bunyoro Region domestic tourism campaign trail will highlight a number of key attractions strewn in the region including Murchison Falls National Park. Kabwoya Wild Life Conservation Game Reserve, Budongo Forest, The Royal Mile, Bugoma Forest, Mparo Royal Tombs, Kinogozi Royal Tombs, Kabalega-Katasiha Royal Fort and Caves, Semwema Cultural Rock, among others.

Brian Kaboyo, the Hoima city mayor says a number of engagements will be held by the tourism ministry with local leaders and communities to lay synergies on how best to tap into the abundant tourism opportunities in the region.

The Ministry will leverage the campaign to emphasize the newly launched national tourism destination brand identity, ‘’Explore Uganda—The Pearl of Africa,” launched by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on January 21, 2022, at the Kololo ceremonial grounds in Kampala city.
