Kabale, Uganda | The Black Examiner – In Kabale, law enforcement authorities have recorded a tragic incident involving a hit-and-run road accident. The incident took place at Kyobugombe Trading Center along the Kabale-Mbarara highway in Kabale district on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, around 09:00 pm.
The accident involved a Mitsubishi Fuso with the registration number UAN 393Z, driven by an unidentified individual, and a male pedestrian named Kanyarutokye Johnson, aged 51. Mr. Johnson, a Mukiga by ethnicity and a peasant farmer residing in Kayorero village, Kaharo sub-county, Kabale district, succumbed to the accident on the spot.
The scene was examined by Corporal Kambale and his team. Subsequently, the deceased’s body was transported to the mortuary at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem procedures. Following the postmortem, the remains were handed over to the family for funeral arrangements.
The vehicle with registration UAN 393Z has been retrieved and is currently situated at the yard of Kabale Central Police Station, awaiting inspection by the Investigation of Vehicles (IOV) unit.
Efforts to determine the probable cause of the accident are currently underway.
