Flood Cuts off Road at Kawanda, Paralyses Traffic

Kawanda road users are experiencing high traffic congestion along the Kampala Bombo highway following a heavy Monday down pour that lasted for several hours.

At the moment logged water has cut off the road at Watindo after Kawanda causing a 5 kilometers stretch of traffic jam right from Kawempe.

In the same manner motorist that are heading to Kampala, are facing the same challenge of traffic congestion from Matugga to the same point.

Passengers heading to Matugga Maganjo and Kagoma have been seen jumping out of taxis to Boda Boda so that they can get home before it’s late.

Some motorist have resorted to using the Lukadde road which joins Kawanda but still find it difficult crossing Watindo where water has crossed the road.

Now young boys are reaping big at Watindo charging 3000 shillings to direct Boda Boda and motorists where to pass.

Henry Ssekyewa a business man at Kagoma and lost over 300,000 shillings when his box of tomatoes he had bought from Bombo was taken by water when crossing with his motorcycle.

Ssekyewa revealed that since it was dark he could not assess the quantity water and it’s flow speed when he decided to cross the waters without being guided by the boys.

He explains that he nearly drowned into the water until he let go his produce to taken by water to save life.

Traffic Police is working tirelessly to manage the traffic flow but little can be done.
