Guard Stabs Wife to Death, Commits Suicide in Bweyogerere

A private security guard has stabbed his wife to death before committing suicide in a domestic fight.

The deceased has been identified as Acen-Jesca-29 year-old, who was stabbed by her husband Kenneth Ogwal-28 year-old, residents of Kireku Railway zone, Bweyogerere Division, Kira-Municipality in Wakiso District.

The residents, led by Defense Secretary, Latif-Waiswa, said he received reports from concerned residents about blood seeping from a locked house. Upon breaking the locked door, the lifeless bodies were discovered.

It is alleged that one neighbour first heard the couple quarrelling at around 11:00pm, when the husband was accusing the wife of regularly returning home late in the night.

“The woman was heard apologizing to the husband several times. But I think the man had already made his plans to end both his life and the woman, only to wake up on the blood flowing from the door.”Waiswa the Defence secretary said.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said the responding homicide team from Bweyogerere Police found multiple wounds on Acen Jesca’s neck, while Ogwal had only one cut around his neck.

“The crime scene paints a picture of a violent struggle, with bloodstains evident on the mattress. The Police at Kira Division are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation to shed light on the circumstances leading to this unfortunate incident.” Owoyesigyire noted.

But Waiswa has said this was the first kind of incident to happen in his area. He has, however, called on the couples in such a similar situation to always use the local council authorities.

The annual Crime report of 2022 indicated that Police recorded 17698 cases of domestic violence, an increase compared to 17533 cases that were reported in 2021. The cases were mainly attributed to disputes over family properties, failure to provide for the family, drug and alcohol abuse, and Cases of infidelity
