Kakumiro District | THE BLACK EXAMINER | Police in Kakumiro District have detained a man suspected to be in his early 40s for reportedly killing his biological son over borrowing money from a money lender without his consent.

Fred Munezero, a resident of Kakayo village in Kasambya sub-county, Kakumiro district reportedly killed his 13-year-old son, Joshua Hakizimana.

Residents and eye witnesses told this website that Munezero hit his son with a hammer all over his body multiple times accusing him of borrowing Shs20,000 from a money lender in his name yet he had not authorised him, thus, stirring his anger that culminated in the ghastly act.

Mr Emmanuel Pendo, a resident of Kakayo village said he learnt of the hitting incident when the suspect’s wife rushed to him seeking a neighbourly intervention and rescue of his son who was being severely hammered by his biological father.

Mr Pendo added that he was surprised that after calming down Munezero and returning to his house, the suspect resumed hitting his son with his hands tied with a rope.

However, the son managed to escape from his father but collapsed and died in Mr Pendo’s courtyard while fleeing at around 9am.

Mr Aledi Baluku, a resident of the same village, said he was surprised at the act since Munezero was known in the village as a peaceful man who had never been involved in any violent act.

Mr Joseph Segoza, the Kakumiro district councillor for Kasambya sub-county, challenged parents to always manage their anger to avoid violent acts in their homes.

He attributed such violent acts to poverty at family levels; asking people to embrace the available development projects that will help them relatively jump out of poverty.
