He notably opposed unjust policies, such as the recent requirement for all advertisements in Uganda to pass through only UBC, the national broadcaster.

Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance, commended Kariisa for his exceptional leadership on media freedom and unity, expressing government appreciation for his contributions.

Additionally, Kariisa has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for NAB, ensuring his continued influence on the media landscape.
